I’m home. Officially.
I was asked where I was, and that’s the answer: home in Miami Beach.
And it’s official because today I turned in my California driver’s license and got an 8-year, no-glasses-required (Lasik last summer) Florida license.
When I first got here two weeks ago and looked at the condo I wondered if I really wanted to do it:
Unlike last winter’s condo, this one looked like a joke version of the 1950’s combined with a bad episode of Miami Vice. Turns out the owner’s son had lived here and I guess that was tasty to him. And how he lived with no blinds and 20 units staring at him from across the way I’ll never know (I put up the sheets as temporary cover).
I got the owner to remove some of the junk and bring in a couch and chair, then added a few things.

Todo es chévere ahora.

gorgeous place! Dibs on the couch for sleeping! ;)
The room looks fine, but that “art” on the left has got to go!
Welcome home! More Lasik? Re-adjustments?
GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU .
SEE YOU IN JANUARY.
The Lasik was essentially a surface peel of both eyes and it worked. I don’t know what I’d have done if it hadn’t, or there had been complications, but always the optimist, I guess :-)
Haven’t posted much here – and may not in the future – but have gotten on Facebook and Myspace recently.
I’m still not sure about these – it seems that anything I do there appears anywhere and everywhere, instantly!
So I’ll either get used to it or quit doing it, right?
And let me know in advance, Bob – I’ll try to be here this time :-)
Looks like Miami seduced one prairie boy! We’re hanging out at Palm Desert for the moment–85 degrees is very comfortable. Regards, bl & jl.
The place looks okay . Keep the art. It gives the place some colour. Need a passport before I can visit. You look pretty happy and that’s good to see.
Looks like, B & L :-)
By the way, are you (and any of the lurkers) on Facebook? I’m at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000157500129&ref=name
Man that is stylish, i think it might put the boat to shame, is that all your furniture?
Thanks Mike – it definitely has more room than the boat, too :-)
The couches and paintings belong to the owner, but I did some stylin’ with the rug, tables and lamps to enrich the ambience. I did have to ask for the couches, by the way – look at the first picture to see what I was faced with when I walked in.
That before & after is pretty amazing! Who knew you had a little interior decorator in you? ;)
